A film shot in Boccamonte
A Film Shot in Boccamonte is a visual study of our CD021.1 outdoor shower column, designed by Formafantasma and installed outside an iconic example of Italian modernist architecture. Directed by Iacopo Carapelli, the film is set in Boccamonte—a house designed in the 1960s by Luisa Castiglioni in Bocca di Magra. Brutalist volumes, natural materials, and the surrounding landscape blend seamlessly, evoking a sense of quiet elegance, continuity, and design in dialogue with nature.
“In architecture, what is right is honest. Honest is the use of a language that is neither artificial nor adulterated. That is my premise. I come from a generation that experienced the moral aspect of modern architecture. For us, practicing architecture was also a way of doing politics.”
—Luisa Castiglioni, 2011
On the hills between Bocca di Magra and Montemarcello (La Spezia), a system of architectures nestled in the woods—long a meeting point for artists, publishers, poets, and friends—returns to being a place for rethinking contemporary life. In 2023, Maddalena Scarzella and Matteo Petrucci founded Boccamonte, born from the need to preserve the physical and moral legacy of an architectural and cultural vision established in the 1960s in Bocca di Magra.
It was the result of the collaboration between architect Luisa Castiglioni and her partner Hans Deichmann—entrepreneur, patron of the arts, and prominent figure of the Italian Resistance. Conceived as a platform for hospitality and cultural production, the project seeks to carry forward the history and energy that have always defined this place.

FFQT outdoor shower column in AISI316L stainless steel, designed to connect with a standard 5/8” garden hose.
In this suspended context—a small cluster of three houses surrounded by nature—stand the FFQT outdoor shower columns, designed by Formafantasma for QuadroDesign. A choice that harmonizes with the environment and echoes the philosophy behind their conception. Since its founding, the faucet brand has built its ethos around sustainability, working with AISI316L stainless steel—a noble material known for its durability and corrosion resistance—and committing to environmentally responsible production processes. The same guiding principles informed Formafantasma’s design of the FFQT series in 2022, which includes both indoor and outdoor shower versions. A project rooted in an awareness of the historical and ongoing impact that industrial design and production have on the planet’s ecological balance. A collection designed to be timeless in use—intuitive and discreet in its presence.
