Basic Village by Andrea Caputo
Inaugurated in 2022, BasicNet’s new Milanese headquarters is conceived as a city within the city. Set within an early-20th-century industrial complex near the former Farini railway yard, the site brings together the showrooms and offices of the Turin-based group — home to brands such as K-Way, Superga, Kappa, Sebago, Robe di Kappa and Briko — in a single ecosystem devoted to industriousness and innovation.
Originally a rubber workshop, the complex evolved over time to host various activities before its transformation into BasicVillage Milano, the group’s second urban campus after Turin. Spread across two buildings connected by an internal courtyard — at Via dell’Aprica 12 and Via Bernina 1C — the 4,500 m² site mixes workspaces, hospitality, and living units in a continuous dialogue between past and present industrial fabric.
In the adjoining building, nine residential lofts designed by Andrea Caputo offer short-term accommodation ranging from 45 to 170 square metres. The architect — founder of the Milan-based practice known for its work on adaptive reuse and projects such as Dropcity, the future centre for architecture and design under Milan’s Centrale Station — has conceived flexible, contemporary spaces equipped with every comfort.
Each apartment features an open-plan living area, a fully equipped kitchen by Very Simple Kitchen with QuadroDesign’s art. 669 extractable-shower mixer, and a selection of furniture pieces by e15, known for their essential forms and solid wood craftsmanship. The layout is completed by a comfortable bedroom and a modern bathroom fitted with the essential, architectural lines of the Q series faucets designed by Studio Adolini.
On the ground floor, MOGO — a restaurant and listening bar by chef Yoji Tokuyoshi — anchors the space with a convivial atmosphere that complements the energy of the working areas above. The design merges raw industrial character with warm, tactile materials, creating a relaxed and inclusive hub for visitors and professionals alike.
