Karaoke, a film by Luca A. Caizzi and Francesca Pavoni
Inspired by the advertising campaigns of the late 80s and early 90s, the film aims to tell the product category of taps and fittings through the narrative expedient of the comedy.
Karaoke
Often and for a long time, this category is victim of a standard and generalized visual communication, the film instead wants to elevate it in an experimental and innovative way. Acting elements of the comedy alternate with visual-aesthetic choices such as 3d art in order to create a surreal and strongly unbalanced environment that lives through the rhetorical figure of the oxymoron. The product becomes an icon that furnished a dimension in which its shapes and chromed features become a desire for possession.
Karaoke is a recreational activity generally known as fun and participatory. The tribute to Lucio Battisti and his song ‘Acqua azzurra, acqua chiara’ is a useful expedient to involve the target audience as well as the largest portion of the public possible thanks to its popularity. The artistic direction of the titles and every graphic element was designed to give the product and the project a ‘light’ value so that even the graphics design align with the ironic tone of the film. The droplet holds QuadroDesign logo and dances on the subtitles as it happens in karaoke. The illustration style can be traced back to the drawing style of the late 80s and early 90s.
