Bar Nico by SagomaStudio
Located east of Milan, Bar Nico is a fusion of history and transformation. Once a tyre shop and formerly a historic pasta factory, the space exudes a distinctive character that pays homage to its varied past.
SagomaStudio‘s approach to transformation is a celebration of continuity rather than a return to a specific historical state. The flooring serves as a tangible reminder of the evolution of the space. In the early stages of the design process, we meticulously removed coverings and surfaces, drawing inspiration from the structures and materials we discovered.
The raw impressions of spatial and material qualities became the canvas for a simple yet precise architectural intervention. We added only what was functionally necessary, letting the tension between the raw elements and the meticulously handcrafted details of our additions define the atmosphere of the space. Our kitchen mixer art.398 emerges from the kitchen and counter clad in raw, functional stainless steel.
